Damongo: Former NPP Chairman Donates To Orphans, Widows And Women Groups

Damongo, Ghana – Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Damongo Constituency in the Savannah Region of Ghana, Nana Kwame Aboagye has presented food stuffs, beverages and money two orphanages and fifteen women groups at his private residence in Damongo.

Sawla Orphanage from the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District and the Redemption Children’s Home from Damongo received 20 bags of maize, 10 crates of assorted drinks and Ghc1,000 cash.

According to a report filed by Bole based Nkilgi FM on Friday 17th January, 2020,  the 15 women groups comprising of widows and market women were also presented with a total amount of Ghc2,000 each.

“Many of the women could not hide their joy as they showered praises on Nana Kwame. They asked for God’s guidance for the gentleman and prayed for more support for him”, Zion Abdul Rauf, Nkilgi FM’s correspondent in Damongo said in his report.

Addressing a gathering of about 500 people including children from the orphanages and the various women groups, Nana Kwame Aboagye said the donations to the two orphanages in the Savannah Region is an annual program.

He said the amount of cash he spends every year to support the orphanages are his hard earned money and appealed to persons who have the ability to help to come on board.

He emphasised that no politician supports his annual donation program, and promised to continue to support orphans and widows anytime the need arises.

He reminded everybody present that he is not boastful of cash but always very touched anytime he sees the vulnerable.

Nana Kwame Aboagye also used the occasion to donate Ghc2,000 to support Madam Sayeba Haruna from Damongo who has been hospitalized and referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Burns Center. He also on behalf of Lawyer Abu Jinapor and the Savannah Regional Minister Salifu Adam Braimah presented Ghc3,000 cash to Madam Sayeba. Sadly, in less than 24hours after these donations, Madam Sayeba Haruna passed away.
